Mission and Goals of PHSH

PHSH creates excellence through structural support in clinical-translational research. Through its innovative structure and a performance-oriented bottom-up process, PHSH identifies and supports initiatives with potential for excellence. PHSH also connects its university members and the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein to efficiently develop and organize the necessary infrastructures and processes for the transfer of data and biomaterial from patient care to academic research.

PHSH drives forward clinical-translational research and promotes the best talents to achieve top research performance and to position Schleswig-Holstein as a worldwide leading research location. PHSH implements the following core tasks:

  1.  Identification and organization of critical processes and structures for clinical and translational research, which are essential for the further development of the Excellence Strategy.
  2. Strategic personnel development, including the continuation of the Schleswig-Holstein Excellence Professorship Program and the cross-location organization of structured junior researcher development Programs in clinical research, such as the Clinician Scientist Program.
  3. Efficient infrastructure planning at both UKSH sites through the use of objective excellence parameters. This ensures that top-level funding at the UKSH takes place where internationally recognized academic excellence is objectively visible, and where there is potential for Schleswig-Holstein to benefit from created research and translational value.
