Therapy Observatories
The systematic survey and recording of complex clinical and epidemiological data across (inflammatory) disease states is key for the implementation of precision medicine and the effective use of targeted therapy strategies. The DFG Cluster of Excellence "Precision Medicine in Chronic Inflammation" (PMI) has created unique structures with its "Comprehensive Centers for Inflammation Medicine" (CCIMs) at both UKSH sites to systematically carry out longitudinal data surveys and recordings in a large patient population. The structures also organize clinical studies (investigator-initiated trials) for therapeutic candidates developed in Schleswig-Holstein. The systematic recruitment of patients into such a molecular-epidemiological registry (therapy observatory) for the collection of data before and during therapy aims to establish in-depth correlative and causative investigations. The therapy observatories are synergetic, but not congruent with the broad-based healthcare-embedded biobanking.
