The SH Excellence Chair Program
Innovative funding program of the state of Schleswig-Holstein
The Schleswig-Holstein (SH) Excellence Chair Program is an innovative personnel strategy that is part of PHSH and that aims to promote successful and excellent scientists from Schleswig-Holstein. Initiated by the DFG Cluster of Excellence "Inflammation at Interfaces", the forerunner of the Cluster of Excellence "Precision Medicine in Chronic Inflammation" (PMI), Kiel and Lübeck Universities and the UKSH launched the Schleswig-Holstein Excellence-Chair Program in 2015 with the support of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The first eight SH Chairs were filled in 2017, followed by a round of four additional Chairs in 2023. Each SH Chair is funded with 1.2 million euros over six years, which includes the support for a junior professorship and research group.
